PARAMAX JUNIOR 250 mg and PARAMAX RAP 500 mg

 This medicine is available without prescription for treatment of mild illness without doctors help. Nevertheless you still need to use Paramax - tablets carefully to get the best results from it.

1. WHAT PARAMAX -TABLETS ARE AND WHAT THEY ARE USED FOR


PARAMAX -tablets are used for temporary fever and symptomatic treatment of slight and moderate pain conditions such as headache, toothache, menstrual pain, muscle- and joint pain and postoperative pain.

 


2. BEFORE YOU TAKE PARAMAX -TABLETS

 

Do not take PARAMAX -tablets

- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to paracetamolum or any of the other ingredients of PARAMAX -tablets.


Take special care with PARAMAX -tablets

- if you have kidney- and/or liver disease or you consume plenty or regularly alcohol.
 
Taking other medicines

Carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, rifampicin and probenecid may increase the liver toxicity of paracetamol. Consult your doctor if you use these medicines. In order to avoid risk of overdosage make sure that all of your other medicines do not contain paracetamol.

 

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

PARAMAX -tablets can be used during pregnancy and lactation with the recommended dosage. Paracetamol is excreted to breast milk in small quantities, but it is unlikely that it has any effect to child.
 Driving and using machines
PARAMAX Rap 500 mg -tablets does not have an effect to an ability to drive and use machines.
 


3. HOW TO TAKE PARAMAX -TABLETS

 

For adults and over 12-year-old adolescents (>40 kg): 1-2 PARAMAX Rap 500 mg tablets 1-3 times a day.
Over 3-year-old children:
Dose for children is determined by weight. Maximum dose is 15 mg/kg at most 3 times a day. Do not exceed this dose without doctors order.
17-25 kg: 1 PARAMAX Junior 250 mg tablet 1-3 times a day.
25-32 kg: 1-2 PARAMAX Junior 250 mg tablet 1-3 times a day.
Over 32 kg: 1 PARAMAX Rap 500 mg tablet 1-3 times a day
For children under 3 years of age and long-term use only by doctor's advice.
 

If you take more PARAMAX -tablets than you should:

Liver injury is possible when taken in higher quantities than recommended. The first symptoms in overdose are nausea, vomiting and pain in stomach. In the case of overdose, contact your doctor, hospital emergency room or Poison Information Center (tel. 09-471 977) immediately. If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.


 
4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

 

Like all medicines, PARAMAX -tablets can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects have been reported:
Common undesirable effects are drowsiness, nausea and vomiting.
Uncommon undesirable effects are headache, perspiration and dizziness.
Rare undesirable effect is redness of skin.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.


 
5. STORING PARAMAX -TABLETS

 

- Keep out of reach and sight of children.
- Use before the expiry date which is stated on the carton with "Käyt. ennen"-date.
- Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What does the PARAMAX -tablets contain:

PARAMAX Junior 250 mg: the active substance is paracetamol 250 mg in one tablet.
PARAMAX Rap 500 mg: the active substance is paracetamol 500 mg in one tablet.
The other ingredients are povidone, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, stearic acid and magnesiumstearate. 
 
Description of the medicine and the package size

Description of the medicine:
PARAMAX Junior 250 mg: white and round tablet with score. Diameter is 10 mm.
PARAMAX Rap 500 mg: white, capsule-shaped tablet with score. Length is 18 mm and width is 7,5 mm.

Package sizes:
PARAMAX Junior 250 mg: 10 tablets
PARAMAX Rap 500 mg: 10, 20, 30 tablets
