1.WHAT IS KATAPEKT AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR
Katapekt is purposed for the treatment of cough. It supresses irritation and liquefyes the mucus from the airways.
2. BEFORE YOU TAKE KATAPEKT
Do not use KATAPEKT If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to codein phosphate
hemihydrate, guaifenesin, ammonium chloride, thyme extract or any of
the ingredients of KATAPEKT.
Taking other medicines Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medicines. If there is need to use other medicines than KATAPEKT regularly, it`s important that you follow doctors advice using these medicines.This applies to both medicines under prescription and overthecounter medicines. KATAPEKT may have effect on the potency of other medicines. These are forexample - chinidine (arrythmia medicine) - several psychose- and depression medicines
The medicines mentioned above should not be taken simultaneously with KATAPEKT.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine. Consult a doctor before taking KATAPEKT during pregnancy or breast-feeding.
KATAPEKT contains codein, which may have effect on the wellfare of the embryo. KATAPEKT should not be used during-breast-feeding, because: - codein absorbs into breast milk in some extend and might be harmful for a child -guaifenesin, ammonium chloride and thyme extract havent`t been studied about how they absorb into breast milk.
Driving and using machines
Katapekt oral solution may harm the ability to drive and use machines. When used according to directions the effect to the driving and using machines is although unlikely.
Important information about the alcohol and sweetening agents of Katapekt
- KATAPEKT contains ethanol 0,05 percent by volume. One portion for adults contains alcohol about 0,6 g. KATAPEKT may be harmful for patients who have liverdiseases, epilepsy, braindamage or other brainillnesses. - If your doctor has told that you have some kind of intolerance with sugar, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine. - This product contains sorbitol. Sorbitol may be harmful for patients who have hereditable fructose intolerance. - when used big amounts of sorbitol, laxative symptoms may appear.
3. HOW TO TAKE KATAPEKT
For the adults 15 ml 3-4 times a day. For the children of 7-15 years of age 10 ml 3-4 times a day. For the children of 3-6 years of age 5 ml 3-4 times a day. For the children of 1-2 years of age 2,5 ml 3-4 times a day. For the children under 1 year of age only with doctors advice.
The directions of dosage should be followed. If the symptoms of cough will prolongen or worsen, it is best to contact a doctor. Ask your doctor or pharmacist , if you have any questions about this medicine.
If you take more KATAPEKT than you should In a case of overdosage and poisoning contact immediately a doctor or hospital emergency room or Poison Information Centre (tel. 09-471977 or exchange 09-4711)
4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines KATAPEKT may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Following side effects have been reported:
Common: fatique, nausea, constipation Uncommon: stomach illnesses Rare: hypersensitive reactions on skin If you notice side effects not mentioned in this leaflet, or if any of the side effects gets serious, please tell about them to your doctor or pharmacist.
5. STORING KATAPEKT
Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Store below 25 degrees. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the label. Medicines should not be disposed via waste or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.'
